Hands-on agricultural education at a three generation heritage farm

Field Trips at Gerry Ranch

Each spring, Gerry Ranch welcomes schools and learning groups for immersive field trips that bring students into the heart of our working family farm.

Set among rolling hills and blueberry fields, our field trips offer a rare opportunity for students to learn where their food comes from, understand the rhythm of the seasons, and connect with nature in a meaningful way.

Our field trips are open February through June, during blueberry U-pick season.

What Students Experience

Students explore our heritage farm with a guided tour designed for their age group.

They’ll learn about:

  • How blueberries grow

  • Pollination and beneficial insects

  • Soil, weather, and water

  • Sustainable farming practices

  • Life on a multi-generation family farm

Our goal is to share not only information, but also the wonder and beauty of farming.

Hands-On U-Pick Experience

Each student gets to pick their own blueberries directly from the bushes.
This is often the highlight of the visit—and a powerful way for children to understand the connection between farms and the food they eat.

Blueberries picked during the field trip may be taken home or enjoyed during snack time.
